The Jesolo Municipal Library welcomes writer Massimiliano Scuderi on Saturday, June 1, at 3:30 p.m. for the presentation of his book “Chronicles of a Military Camp.”

“Characters, events and places are by no means random,” the author emphasizes as he recounts the experience of twenty-seven days spent in a military camp in Sicily in 1992, during the period of compulsory conscription. The (fictional) names of officers and non-commissioned officers, from Colonel Raffica to Captain Rambo, from Sergeants Major Minuto and Brutus to Stecchino, Picciotto, Zagor, Leone and Galluccio, hint at the merits (few) and flaws (many) of these characters, as well as the adventures and especially the misadventures that await Private Scuderi, nicknamed the Imboscato.

It is a compelling book that, in an amusing way, recalls some cinematic works such as L'Armata Brancaleone, Fantozzi, or even Bonvi's Sturmtruppen comics. It recalls them with one key difference: that the events narrated in the book actually happened.

Free admission.
